For some reasons, Windows Update stopped working on my corporate Windows Seven laptop. In addition to not being able to automatically download latest security fixes, it prevents me to connect to my office using the vpn connection because the ForeFront Endpoint Protection definition file is outdated. Free time would you think! But I need to offload my mailbox in my personal .pst file and thus, need to connect to the Exchange server... So until my Windows Update problem is fixed, I will have to manually maintain ForeFront... here is how to do it.

For more information, have a look at

Quick steps

  • Download the Microsoft Forefront Client Security or the Microsoft Forefront Endpoint Protection 2010 antimalware definition update file
  • Right-click on the file you just downloaded, select “Run as Administrator” and accept the UAC warning. The antimalware will silently be updated in background.

Job’s done! I can now connect to the office with my vpn connection!
